Facial Fillers Pasadena
Volume loss is an unfortunate part of the aging process. Deepening lines and wrinkles, sagging cheeks and lips, hollowed out temples, and dark lines under the eyes can all result from volume loss. Fortunately, fillers are often an effective treatment for this aging process.
The most common type of filler used is hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally-occurring substance found in the human body. It can help the skin stay hydrated and acts as a cushioning agent. There are many different types of hyaluronic products, and Dr. Chow has experience with a wide variety of them.
The frequently used hyaluronic acid fillers at the Chow Center are:
- Juvederm Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC
- Vollure XC
- Voluma XC
- Volbella XC
- Restylane
- Restylane Lyft or Perlane
- Restylane Refyne
- Restylane Defyne
Another facial filler is Sculptra, which consists of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). This is a biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic polymer that has been used for many years in stitches and medical implants. It promotes collagen synthesis, and is FDA approved for the correction of moderate to severe volume loss in the face.
These and other fillers are used alone or in combination to provide rejuvenation to the face (and neck). They can also be used to correct local defects, to augment the chin or jawline, and for nonsurgical rhinoplasty (nose job). Of course, they are frequently used to enhance the lips as well.
All of these fillers are FDA-approved medications that should be administered only by qualified health professionals. At the Chow Center, Dr. Chow personally performs all such treatments. As a double board certified facial plastic surgeon, he takes particular care in the treatment of his patients.
