Despite our best efforts, scars can (and do!) appear on the face, eyelids, ears, nose, mouth, and neck. Accidents, sports injuries, medical conditions (such as acne), and surgical procedures can leave unsightly scars. Depending on the type of injury and the time that has passed since the injury, these can be treated and improved.

In some cases, especially after accidental trauma, the scar that is left can be large and unsightly simply because the skin and soft tissues were not able to be properly aligned during healing. In other cases, a genetic predisposition to keloids or hypertrophic scarring can leave raised, dark, swollen scars that require intervention in order to look better.
