People lose their eyelashes for many reasons, including rubbing or scratching their eyes too much, stress, hormonal imbalances, allergies, age, and a number of other factors. We all want full, dark, and thick eyelashes without having to apply loads of mascara. Unfortunately, there are not very many products available on the market to grow back your eyelashes once you’ve lost them.

Latisse is the solution to your eyelash problems. Latisse is the only FDA-approved treatment available in the cosmetic market that can regrow your eyelashes and make them longer, fuller, darker, and thicker. It helps new hair sprout on the upper eyelids and increases the life of your eyelashes.

Latisse was first used in the form of Lumigan, a medicine for the eye condition glaucoma. The active ingredient is called bimatoprost – 0.03%. Doctors observed the effect that the solution had on the growth of the subject’s lashes once they used it for glaucoma and noticed that the patient would get long, lush eyelashes after using the solution.

The growth of eyelashes was an unexpected side effect of using Lumigan and led to the creation of Latisse, which was marketed as a separate product solely for re-growing eyelashes. This is how Latisse became a popular product to regrow your lashes.

Proper Usage

Before you apply Latisse, make sure to clean your face properly, removing all makeup and dirt. Also, make sure to remove your contact lenses if you are wearing any.

The Latisse packaging comes with sterile applicators that you can use to apply the solution onto your upper eyelashes. You just have to dab a drop of the solution onto each upper eyelid along the lash line every night before you go to sleep. As you blink, the solution gets naturally absorbed into your lower lash line, too. As you apply Latisse, make sure to wipe off or remove any excess solution that may be remaining on your eyelids.

Latisse should be used only on the upper lashes and not the lower lashes, only one drop per eyelid at a maximum. Do not let any of the solution touch any other area of the skin. If it does, wipe it away gently and immediately with a piece of cotton. The bimatoprost solution can cause hair growth in other areas that it touches.

Never use the same applicator twice, and always discard the applicator after you’ve used it. Reusing the same applicator can lead to eye problems, allergies, redness, and itching.

Continued Treatment

For optimal results, you should use Latisse for at least two months. If you stop using Latisse, you will lose the improvements that it made to your eyelashes, and your eyelashes will return to their original appearance.
