Last week, I wrote about how to get Kim Kardashian’s wedding look, with specific focus on her skin and face. This week, I am going to focus on how we at home can get Kim’s gorgeous eyes. Of course, Kim has double eyelids. For anyone who does not have double-eyelids, and is interested in options to obtain double eyelids or more information, please visit this page. For this article, I am not going to go in-depth about single eyelids versus double eyelids, but you can read more about that topic here. For now, let’s concentrate on how we can get eyes like Kim!

Conceal. Make sure you conceal underneath your eyes, as this is a key tip to create a flawless look. You want to try to hide and cover any dark circles and/or bags. If makeup is unable to conceal your under eye problems, I suggest looking into a minimally invasive surgical procedure such as lower blepharoplasty (lower eyelid surgery). One of my favorite concealers is the Laura Mercier Undercover Pot (retails for about $34). It’s handy because it combines everything you need to conceal in one little travel friendly pot. It contains a concealer for your face (to cover minor blemishes, scars, imperfections), a creamier concealer for underneath the eyes, and then a very fine setting powder to finish and set your makeup. For my under eye makeup, I use the Laura Mercier Camouflage Powder Brush (it came with a set that I purchased, the brush alone retails at about $28 at Sephora), but you can really use any similar concealing brush, or even your finger! I use my finger when I am in a rush, especially in the mornings. When I have more time to primp, then I usually use my brush. Now, the Laura Mercier concealer is about a light to medium coverage, if you have very dark under eye circles or bigger blemishes, I would go with a full coverage concealor.

Lashes. Aren’t the Kardashians just blessed with thick, dark, lashes?! So what are the celebrity secrets to gorgeous lashes? Well, among other things, fake eyelashes, mascara, and Latisse. Latisse really works! It makes your eyelashes longer, thicker, and darker. To get gorgeous lashes like Kim, I would suggest to use Latisse daily, and to use a mascara that contains fibers to lengthen and make your lashes look thicker. Latisse is prescription based, so you must see a physician in order to get it. For an everyday mascara, I usually go with a drugstore brand since I go through mascaras quickly. I use Maybelline Falsies for a more glam look, and then Loreal Lashblast for a more every day look. One of my absolute favorite mascaras is DiorShow by Christian Dior, it really does the most that mascara can do for your lashes (retails at about $24.50). With the combo of Latisse and DiorShow, it looks like I am wearing fake lashes, and I always get a ton of compliments. The best part is that I get to impress everyone by telling them that these are my real lashes!

Groomed Brows. Kim gets her brows professionally shaped by Anastasia in Beverly Hills. However, I do not suggest that you try to get brows exactly like Kim Kardashian. Everyone should have a brow shape that flatters their unique facial features. The best way to obtain this, is to keep your brows as close to your natural shape as possible. Try to only clean up and get rid of stray hairs when shaping your brows, and filling in your brows if needed. Click here to read my article for more information on facial hair removal.

Makeup. I really love eye makeup, it’s so versatile. You can experiment with so many different types of looks and colors. The best way to master putting on eye shadow, is tons of practice! Everyone’s eye shape is different, so if you watch a video tutorial, know that your eye makeup might not come out exactly the same. For Kim’s wedding look, she went with a smokey brown look for eyes, black winged eyeliner, and false lashes. My favorite eye shadow company is Urban Decay. They have plenty of palettes (I love variety) to choose from to create different looks. To create a look similar to Kim’s, I would go with the Urban Decay Naked Palette. For those that are on a budget, I would suggest the Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad (in brown). The Maybelline palette comes with four different eye shadows that are labeled (for example, lid, crease, etc.) to make it easier for beginners.

I absolutely love eyeliner! If I am wearing makeup, I almost always use eyeliner. The easiest way to achieve winged eyeliner is to use an eyeliner brush and gel liner. I use Mac 209 Eyeliner Brush ($18) and the Mac Fluidline Gel Liner ($15). The gel liner lasts a really long time for me; I actually cannot remember the last time I bought a new one. The gel liner does not really budge once you put it on, so I usually line my eyes first with a black kohl eyeliner pencil, and then go over it with the gel liner. I line the thicker part of the wing with the pencil liner, and as the wing thins out, I finish it with the gel liner. The brush and gel liner gives you a lot more precision for the wing than the thicker pencil. Even though I am really good at applying my eyeliner, I still choose to go with the pencil and gel option since I have found it to be easier. However, for a night out, I layer my eyeliner so that it lasts all night. On top of using pencil and gel, I seal it with a black waterproof liquid eyeliner. For those that are good at applying eyeliner, you can just use the liquid liner by itself. One of my favorite liquid eyeliners is the Mac Liquid Eye Liner ($17.50), the felt-tip applicator makes it easy to wing out your liner and for precise application. When I can’t afford Mac (we all have those times), I use Maybelline Lineworks Liquid Eyeliner which has basically the same brush shape, but the liner is not as black, and the bottle gets used up pretty quickly.

I hope you enjoyed my Kim Kardashian segment articles, feel free to leave any comments about what works for you! Stay tuned next week to discuss more about eyes!
