Summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time to wear less makeup and lighter clothes! When the heat is on, you don’t want to have to worry about your makeup melting off, creasing, or smearing. So to prepare for the summer, you want to make sure you have flawless, glowing skin. But how do you get the nice, even skin tone you want this summer?

Get rid of dry flaky patches. Use an exfoliating cleanser. The Vivité Exfoliating Cleanser works great since it is a medical grade cleanser, which means you only need to use it 2-3 times a week to see amazing results! I keep it in my shower along with my regular cleanser so that I always remember to use it. The cleanser helps to loosen the unproductive top layer of your skin so that you can scrub it away and reveal fresh, new skin!

Start a series of light in-office chemical peels. Do not try these at home! The most effective ones are done in the office by a qualified nurse or physician (as it is at the Chow Center for Facial Plastic Surgery). A series of light chemical peels will help get your skin ready for summer. I have already started my regime, getting them once every two weeks. A light chemical peel, like one we offer, can contain a 70% glycolic compound. It helps to improve skin tone, clarity, and smoothness, and also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Check in with your nearest facial plastic surgeon, but if you purchase the peels in a package ($400-$600), it can be a lot cheaper than purchasing them individually ($130-$300). Since light chemical peels work the best when repeated multiple times, I highly suggest you go with the cheaper option and purchase a peel package. Of course, if your doctor recommends a deeper peel, it can be pricier and more time consuming in terms of recovery.

Reduce hyperpigmentation. What is hyperpigmentation? Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of the skin caused by sun damage, acne, etc. You know when you get a pimple, and even though the pimple has gone down, you still get that little dark spot? That is hyperpigmentation. You want to improve your skin tone by using a treatment like the Vibrance Therapy. The Vivité Vibrance therapy is a “restorative, antioxidant rich cream specially formulated for the face to help create the appearance of brighter more even skin tone.” It also improves the appearance of uneven skin tone, reduces fine liens and wrinkles, and increases the smoothness of your skin.

Also, do not forget to moisturize your skin and slather on that sunscreen. Follow these tips, and by the time summer rolls around your skin will be looking glowing and fabulous. You won’t have to slather on your makeup to hide your imperfections!
