General Facelift

dermabrasion_girl.jpgThe lower facelift addresses the effects of gravity over time on the lower face and neck. It restores a youthful jaw line, removing sagging jowls and excess skin. It tightens the lower neck and addresses the "turkey-gobbler" appearance below the chin that can occur with age or significant weight loss.

The face is rejuvenated when the superficial muscle layer (also known as SMAS) below the skin is used to reposition the drooping facial tissue. This prevents tension on the skin, which may lead to a pulled, tight, or plastic appearance. This same procedure can also remove the excess tissue in the neck, providing a youthful contour to complement the rejuvenated face.

As the face undergoes changes in volume and skin texture in addition to those related to the inexorable pull of gravity, other procedures may augment the effects of a lower facelift. These may include neck (submental) liposuction, chin or cheek implants, injectable fillers, and skin resurfacing.

Mini Facelift

Not everyone needs the traditional facelift. Sometimes, a simpler, shorter procedure is all you need to regain the youthful, attractive contours in your face. Though it has many names, the mini-facelift, or weekend facelift, can provide excellent results with less recovery time, lower cost, and less bruising and swelling when compared to the traditional facelift, which lifts a large amount of skin and underlying tissue to reposition it in a more youthful position.  As a result, the mini-facelift provides a significant, though smaller change, with a shorter recovery period.

Rhinoplasty - The "Nose Job"

Rhinoplasty Front.jpgRhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that alters the outward appearance of the nose without sacrificing its function. When performed by a skilled surgeon, it reshapes the contours of the nose in a manner which brings harmony to the other facial features. Overdeveloped ridges along the dorsum (more commonly known as a dorsal "hump"), which create a bump or hook along the nose when seen from the side, may be gently removed, and broad or misshapen nasal tips can be refined. Defects in the nose which are present after an accident or sports injury or even at birth may be corrected. In addition, the tip of the nose often begins to droop as its structural support weakens with age. Rhinoplasty, or nasal reshaping, can assist in facial rejuvenation. Dr. Chow is well versed in both "open" and "closed" rhinoplasty techniques, and can discuss how refinement of the nose may best be achieved.

Eyelid Surgery/Blepharoplasty

Upper Eyelid Surgery or Double-Lid Surgery
Eyes are one of the most expressive and important features of the face. Therefore, upper blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery) can have a dramatic effect on facial appearance. Blepharoplasty is a safe surgical procedure which is performed to restore a more youthful appearance or to enhance and open up the eyes. Upper eyelid surgery can also include "double-lid" surgery, which provides an aesthetic fold in the upper eyelid to open up the eyes and provide symmetry.
